REJOICE in the Eucharist!
Did you adore? Thanks to everyone who came to pray and adore Christ in the Blessed Sacrament on December 11, the Third Sunday of Advent or Gaudete (Rejoice) Sunday! Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer, rosaries, and music were all enjoyed throughout the day as well. What a beautiful way to remind ourselves of the importance of the Eucharist and prepare for Christmas!
Ecumenical Thanksgiving
The Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service was held at St. Joseph on November 20. Sponsored by the Elkader and Strawberry Point Ministerial Associations including
- Rev. John Haugen, Emmaus Pastorate;
- Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen and Vicar Brittany Barkus, One in Faith Parish;
- Rev. Kathy Rempe, United Methodist Church;
- Rev. Linda Hauschild, First
Congregational Church; - Peace United Church of Christ;
- Ryan Zurbriggen, Grace Evangelical Free Church; and
- Rev. Kate Johnson, Bethany & Emanuel Lutheran Churches,
it was the first time in three years the service was held in-person due to COVID-19. The 77 people who attended very much enjoyed the experience, and almost 60 stayed for the reception! Thanks to the pastors involved, St. Joseph for hosting, and Peace Church for donating food! All money collected was sent to the Clayton County Food Shelf. And gosh what a combined choir we heard!!
