All Souls Day Mass at 4:00 pm at St. Joseph in Elkader. You are most welcome to bring a photo of your loved ones to place on one of the the empty chairs in the aisle of church. This is a wonderful opportunity to pray for all of our loved ones. This Mass will fulfill your weekend obligation.

NOVEMBER MASS INTENTIONS

Have you noticed the two angels watching over our congregation?

The pair of angels are from the original high altar at St. Mark. After being under the protection of Grace Knipper for many years, they were recently repaired, and then newly painted thanks to LuAnn Mescher who had them redone in memory of her husband, Bob.
They have been placed in the rear of church overlooking our congregation.

Faith Formation

LIVING SAINTS

Our living Saints will be presented by our 6th graders on November 3rd BEFORE Mass. Please make sure you COME EARLY to learn about the Saints that the 6th graders have chosen.

A very special "THANK YOU" goes to our own Dan Venteicher, aka the Iowa Dairy Farmer, who was the key speaker at our annual Faith on the Field to kick off our Faith Formation year. What a blessing it was to hear his powerful message and thought provoking talk. Thank you, Dan!

NOTICE: UPCOMING BAPTISM CLASS

Do you have a child in need of baptism?
All parents requesting baptism for their child are asked to attend a class prior to the baptism. Godparents are welcome to come too! To register, please call John Uhal at the St. Joseph Parish Center at 563-245-2548 or email him at j.uhal@dbqarch.org. Preregistration is preferred but not required.

The next class will be on Sunday, November 24 following the 10:00am Mass at St. Mark Parish in Edgewood.

Each week at Mass, the children come forward to receive their own Children's Liturgy of the Word from Father John, before heading over to the Parish Center to engage in some active, early, fun, Faith Formation. We so appreciate all of the students and adults who help with this mission!

UPCOMING EVENTS......

ALL SAINTS MASS is October 31 at 7:00. The students are not dressing up as saints for this Mass so they can come as they are from trick or treating.!

On Nov. 3rd, our 6th graders are presenting their LIVING SAINTS before Mass so be sure to come early so you can hear all about the saints that each sixth grader has researched.

Nov. 24th we celebrate the SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING. We plan to have more youth help at this Mass.

The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has announced that the GLOBAL CELEBRATION OF YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS will be commemorated on the Solemnity of Christ the King (November 24, 2024), and will have the following theme: "Those who hope in the Lord will run and not be weary". This is a perfect opportunity to include the youth in Mass. We appreciate our students and they are each important to our parish and pastorate.
