Church groups will continue to clean the church--thank you to all that help provide this service!

Father John is away on retreat and vacation. As we wish him well while he is away, we thank Father Sean Smith for filling in. Father Smith is newly ordained, and we are happy to have him! Thank you for joining us! Welcome!

Parish Council

St. Patrick's Parish Council met on June 3rd. It was decided that both couples running for Parish Life be appointed since we couldn't hold an election. Thank you Jeremy and Kris Hillers and Jamie and Sarah Mormann! We are thankful to have great volunteers join Parish Life! It was also discussed that the fall Steak Fry/Auction be put on hold at this time because of Covid and the state guidelines in place. The Town Hall meeting notes were studied and discussed, and new goals for 20-21 were made and stated as:

St. Patrick Parish Goals

Established June 2020

By June 2021, increase the St. Patrick footprint across the community.
Explore ecumenical opportunities
a) Turkey supper with Methodist church for example
b) Post opportunities (like the food drive) on community website
c) Host community card parties in January through March/April
d) Sell lasagna in February
e) Steak fry (when possible)
f) Fish fry (when possible)
By June 2021, increase communication with the home bound through phone calls, cards, visits (when possible), etc.

Faith Formation

First Holy Communion was celebrated for our five 2nd graders on June 7th. Congratulations Mason, Dagny, Max, Miles, and Hayden! Also, thank you to Father John for presiding at Mass, thank you to Kara Wessel for the wonderful job you always do preparing our students, thank you to Steve and Sandy for the music, and thank you to our parents and families! We appreciate all you've done!

SUMMER SCHOOL! We had an abbreviated summer school this year on Tuesday, June 23 and June 30. Students were able to attend Liturgy of the Word and Communion, and we also had small stations of activities in the parish center, which allowed us to have social distancing and also be TOGETHER once again! We were very glad to see everyone after a long spring apart. Thank you to the wonderful teachers at St. Patrick's that helped this year! We are blessed!

Parish Life

St. Patrick's had a baptism on June 23rd. We welcome Lena Marie and her family into the St. Patrick's family! What a blessing! God Bless you Lena!

We continue to have Scrip for sale. Contact Deanne to purchase, or if you'd like more information.

As the fiscal year ends June 30, our 2019-2020 fiscal year profit for scrip is as follows:

Here's a bit of information about Mass Intentions:

An individual or family may ask Father John to offer a Mass for several reasons: for example, in thanksgiving, for the intentions of another person (such as on a birthday), or, as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died. You can simply put a note in the collection basket with the name you'd like included. It is suggested that intentions come with a $5 donation. If you'd like to email Sandy, you may do that as well: dbq072bm@dbqarch.org or call the office at 928-7200 and send the $5 to the office. You will be asked if the person is deceased because there will be a small cross printed by his/her name in the bulletin, but you can request a Mass Intention for anything/anyone. The Emmaus Pastorate has one Mass Intention each week "For the People", so you may notice that from time to time as well in our St. Patrick's Intentions.

Candles

Lighting of a candle at St. Patrick's somewhat aligns with Mass Intentions. If you'd like to light a candle for someone, please do so. It is suggested that a $5 donation is put in the collection in an envelope marked "candle money" to cover the cost. Candles can be lit for any reason. Sometimes, it is in memory of a loved one, sometimes for someone sick or struggling, sometimes for peace, etc.
